Anna Ulrikke Andersen
Academic

Andersen is an architectural historian and filmmaker, who adopts practice-led research methods to explore questions related to place, architecture, the body, and its history. Based on her PhD thesis in Architectural Design at the Bartlett School of Architecture, my book Following Norberg-Schulz: An Architectural History through the Essay Film (2022) looks at a series of windows in the life and work of the Norwegian architectural theorist Christian Norberg-Schulz (1926-2000) through written essays and essay films. Andersen continues to build upon these methodological innovations in her current work where she uses film, sculpture, photography and creative writing to explore how people with chronic illness experience place and architecture.
